2006 Sale Results
Hershberger Performance Horses was proud to host their 1st Annual Performance Horse Sale. Seventy-seven horses were consigned. The sale was held at Dunn's Arena in Litchfield Park, AZ. Horses were previewed on Friday, Jan. 13 at 1:00 and again on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 9:00 AM at Dunn's Arena where horses were roped on. Cattle were available in the cutting pen to demonstrate the horse's ability on a cow. The reiners were previewed as well. The sale began at 1:00, Arkie Kiehne from Portales, NM was the auctioneer, bid spotters included Randy Wood, Bill Wood, and Stacy Lee, reading pedigrees was B.W. Fancher. Office help included Cami Elliott, Roger and Susan Olson, Kylie Knight, Crystal Williams, and Nikki Hershberger.
Approximately 1000 spectators were on hand and bidder numbers went out to people all over the country. Many winter visitors were in attendance and the weather was picture-perfect. A special thanks to Dunn's Arena for helping us make this event a success and also to Dale Deal's Town and Country Store for donating the use of the panels needed next to the sale ring. Congratulations to all the new owners and thanks to Nutrena Feed for a free bag of feed to the new owners. Sale Highlights and ResultsThe High-Selling Horse was consigned by Agent Doug Williamson for Sandie Braden. Lenas Pepenade sold for $25,000. Norbie Larsen from Canyon City, CO was the proud buyer. Lena's Pepenade is a 2000 Sorrel Gelding. This gelding is a heading and heeling horse and has been shown in the cutting. He is versatile, gentle, and a classy winner. Lenas Pepenade is by Lenas Telesis by Doc O'Lena and out of Peppys Serende (Peppy San Badger mare). The second high seller was Baby Scotty Jo, consigned by Ray Siggins. The big Buckskin Head Horse sold to Bruce Kuykendall (California) for $24,100.00. The High-Selling Stallion was I CD Cue, a trained cutter, also a nice rope horse, consigned by Diane Roeper for $21,000. He will stand at Empty Acres in Buckeye, AZ. The High-Selling Mare Boomer Girl 2002, a very nice reiner ready to go show, consigned by Kevin & Sydney Knight, sold for $12,500 to Devon Benbrook of Scottsdale, AZ. The Top-Ten Selling Horses averaged $17,760.00. Jason Hershberger, Sale Manager was pleased with the quality of horses that were brought to the sale. The high-selling horses were in tip-top shape and were proudly presented to the public. Top trainers like Brad Lund (Kansas), Doug Williamson (California), Ray Siggins (New Mexico), Corey Cushing (California), Walt Vermedahl (Montana/Arizona), and Jason Hershberger (Arizona) brought quality horses to sell. Other highlights included horses from Steve Temple, Diane Roper, Kevin & Sydney Knight, Mike Carney, and many more. The average sale price was $8,055.00. |
