2008 Sale Results
Hershberger Performance Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their third annual performance horse sale Saturday, January 12, 2008 in Buckeye, AZ at the Empty Acres Arena. The Arizona sun made for two beautiful days for the preview and sale. Horses were previewed on Friday at 2:00 and again on Saturday at 9:00. Horses were demonstrated in both the roping arena and the cutting pen. Reining horses were exhibited too. The sale began at 1:00; Ben Hoepker from Nebraska was the auctioneer. Bid spotters included Stacey Lee and Cas Salley from Oklahoma, and Randy Wood from Tonopah, AZ. Reading pedigrees from the auctioneer stand was Tom Brown, from New Mexico. Office help included Sara Vaessen from Vaessen Pedigrees, Gina Stopher, Danetta Eide, Tandy Nielson and Michelle Williams.
Many winter visitors were in attendance. The sale company appreciates our repeat buyers and their dedication to our sale. A special thanks to Empty Acres and their beautiful facility. These quality horses will make new homes in New Mexico, Oregon, Wyoming, Texas, California, Idaho, South Dakota, Colorado, and of course, across the state of Arizona. Sale Highlights and ResultsJohn Arnall, Texas, consigned the High-Selling Horse, Gals Little Star. Gals Little Star is a 2003, daughter of Grays Starlight and out of a Smart Little Lena mare. This mare is a fully trained cutter and is ready to go to the Open or Non-Pro Competition. Gals Little Star sold for $30,000 and will make her new home in Clovis, NM with Pete Branch. The second high seller sold to Georgia May of Camp Verde, AZ. Seven S Starrlight, 2004 Sorrel Mare, by Boonlight Dancer, out of a Shining Spark mare, is a multi-talented mare. She had NRCHA earnings as a 3yr. old is making an exceptional head/heel horse, sold for $26,500. Partners Jason Hershberger, Travis Mast, and Rich Egly consigned Seven S Starrlight. Beau Bar Feathers, consigned by Kathie and Kylie McLean was the high-selling gelding. This 2000 Bay gelding had been roped on all over Canada with numerous championships. This eye-catcher sold for $23,000 and will make his way back to Canada with Tom Osadczuk. The Top-Ten Horses averaged $15,000. The overall sale prices averaged $7000.
