2017 Sale Results
Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their 12th annual performance horse sale Saturday, February 11th, in Litchfield Park, AZ at Double T Arena. Horses were previewed on Friday at 1:00 in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Johnny Salvo riding hip #99, Pepto Picasso and Bode Baize, riding hip #60A GS Rondo Boy. It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Horses were previewed again on Saturday at 9:00. Horses were demonstrated in the events of: roping, cutting, and cow horse. The sale began at 1:00. A professional staff included: Auctioneer, Joel White and, announcer, John Johnson, and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Mitch Armitage, and Cas Salley. Ross Wagner did a great job announcing the previews.
The High-Selling Horse, Blackjack Bhooty, a 2011 black gelding, was consigned by Mozaun McKibben. This awesome reiner/rope horse is a very cool horse. He sold for $32,500.00 to Robert Stein from Sharpsville PA. Other top sellers were Pepto Picasso, consigned by Johnny Salvo, sold for $27,700.00 to Travis Lawrence, Kingman AZ. Tivio Pick consigned by Bode Baize, sold for $27,000.00 to Bobby Willis. The report from Bobby is that he loves his new horse. Other top-ten selling horses were consigned by: Ryan Von Ahn, Turner Performance Horses, Tyler Merrill and Jason Hershberger. The top-ten horses averaged $25,051.00. Jason is always excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. Jason was glad to see the quality of horses that were brought by consignors from AZ, NM, WA, AB CAN, CA, OK, MO, ID, CO, NE, TX, UT, MT. The over-all average sale price on the horses sold was $13,675.00. Despite the high average there were some good buys of really nice horses for under $10,000.00. Thanks to the consignors who brought these quality horses. This years lucky buyer was Steve Casterton. Steve took home the KO Elite trophy saddle from the raffle drawing at the end of the sale. A special thank you to Troy Fischer for the beautiful buckles that he made for the High Buyer and High Seller. Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this years performance horse sale a success.
