Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their 16th Annual Performance Horse Sale Friday, February 26th, at WestWorld in Scottsdale, AZ. The sale kicked off the AZ Sun Country Circuit, the largest AQHA circuit in the West. Horses were previewed Thursday Afternoon in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Andy Holcomb, riding hip # 85A Shine On Baron Chex and Zane Bruce, riding hip # 61 Smooth Count Dracula. It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Andy and Zane were awarded beautiful buckles which were sponsored by Bode Baize of Corriente Buckle Company.
Horses were previewed again First thing Friday morning. Horses were demonstrated in the roping, reining, barrels, and cow horse. The sale began at 1:00. A professional staff included: Auctioneers, Joel White, and Justin Holmberg, announcers, Jayson Jackson, and Wyatt Hershberger and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Jody Doescher, Justin Morris, and Buck Waite. Wyatt Hershberger and Jayson Jackson did a great job announcing the preview as well. The High-Selling Horse, Sushi Boss, a 2011 Palomino stallion, was consigned by Amye Donaldson. This pretty rope horse/cow horse is a very cool horse. He sold for $60,000.00 to Randy White of Hearne Texas. Other top sellers were, El Jeffe at $46,500.00, consigned by Bode Baize agent for Rodey and Brooke Wilson. Rodey and Brooke Wilson sold the big beautiful Red Dun, SRK Jack McCue for $41,000.00 and he headed straight to Montana. Jordan Allyn consignment Royal Blue Joe commanded the price of $41,000.00. Other top-ten selling horses were consigned by: Austin Rogers, Schmitt Horse Ranch, Chad and Paje Turner, and Cade Rice. The top-ten horses averaged $39,050.00 Jason is always excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. We were excited to see the quality of horses that were brought by consignors from all over the US. The over-all average sale price on the horses sold was $19,811.00 Despite the high average there were some good buys of really nice horses for under $15,000.00. Thanks to the consignors who brought these quality horses. This year’s lucky buyer was Jarin Davis. Jarin took home the Corriente trophy saddle (sponsored by Terry Larsen, Southwest Risk Management) Jarin’s ticket was drawn at the end of the sale. Jarin had purchased hip # 88 Continental Lincoln. A special thank you to Terry Larsen and Southwest Risk Management for the trophy buckles to the High-Volume Buyer, High Seller. Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this year’s performance horse sale a success.
