2022 Sale Results & Recap
Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their 17th Annual Performance Horse Sale Friday, March 4th, at WestWorld in Scottsdale, AZ. The sale kicked off the AZ Sun Country Circuit, the largest AQHA circuit in the West. Horses were previewed Thursday Afternoon in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Jesse Stipes, riding hip # 101 Bud Lite Platinum and Kirk Hostettler, riding hip #100 Nitro Duke. It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Jesse and Kirk were awarded beautiful buckles which were sponsored by Bode Baize of Corriente Buckle Company.
Horses were previewed again First thing Friday morning. Horses were demonstrated in the roping, reining, barrels, and cow horse. The sale began at 1:00. A professional staff included: Auctioneers, Joel White, and Blake Thompson, announcer Wyatt Hershberger and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Jody Doescher, Justin Morris, and Spence Kidney. Wyatt Hershberger did a great job announcing the preview as well. The High-Selling Horse, RZ Mercedes was consigned by Majada Rope Horses. The gorgeous black gelding is an awesome rope horse. He sold for $67,500.00 to Bobby Simmons from Midland Texas. Other top sellers were, Stay Salty Doc $54,000.00 consigned by Turner Performance Horses selling to Justin Jones from New Braunfels Texas. JD Johnson was the agent for Outlaw Ranch sold hip # 79 One Blue Line for $50,000.00 to Kristen Thiem from Waddell Arizona. Other top-ten selling horses were consigned by: Sterling Kelly, Jake Scott agent for Thomas Utz, Casey Hicks, Kyle Kellmer, Wilson Cattle Co, Garrett Hershberger for JP Quarter Horses, and Ryan VonAhn. The top-ten horses averaged $44,800.00 Jason is always excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. We were excited to see the quality of horses that were brought by consignors from all over the US. The over-all average sale price on the horses sold was $23,174.00 Despite the high average there were some good buys of really nice horses for under $20,000.00. Thanks to the consignors who brought these quality horses. This year’s lucky buyer was Jaime Collins. Jaime took home the Corriente trophy saddle (sponsored by John Holt and Terry Larsen, Southwest Risk Management) Jaime’s ticket was drawn at the end of the sale. Jaime had purchased hip # 87 Pure Voodoo. Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this year’s performance horse sale a success.
