Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their 18th Annual Performance Horse Sale Friday, March 3rd, at WestWorld in Scottsdale, AZ. The sale kicked off the AZ Sun Country Circuit, the largest AQHA circuit in the West. Horses were previewed Thursday Afternoon in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Javon Kropf, riding hip # 29 Cowboys Shine A856 and Calgary Smith, riding hip # 68 Nicks Royal.
It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Javon and Calgary were awarded beautiful buckles which were sponsored by Bode Baize of Corriente Buckle Company. Horses were previewed again First thing Friday morning. Horses were demonstrated in the roping, reining, barrels, and cow horse. The sale began at 1:00. A professional staff included: Auctioneers, Joel White, and Blake Thompson, announcer Wyatt Hershberger and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Jody Doescher, Justin Morris, and Spence Kidney. Ross Wagner did a great job announcing the jackpot and preview. The High-Selling Horse, RKR Spacecowboy consigned by Ryan VonAhn. The gorgeous gray gelding is an awesome rope horse and cowhorse. He sold for $65,000.00 to Kevin Harris from Richmond Texas. Other top sellers were, Cowboys Shine A856 consigned by Javon Kropf sold for $46,500.00 to JP Quarter horses from Glendale AZ. Rbar Smokin Guns commanded the price of $40,000.00. The great looking bay roan was consigned by Kale Peterson from Alberta. Nicks Royal a beautiful Bay Stallion consigned by Taylor Cherry and Colton Klassen, sold for $40,000.00 as well. Rounding out the top ten horses sold, KH rope horses, Ranger Hill, William Cappell, and Kyle Kellmer. Ryan VonAhn consigned a great group of horses as he had 3 horses in the top 10! The top ten horses averaged $43,600.00 We are excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. This year was an exceptional group of consigned horses! The over-all average sale price on the horses sold was $21,002.00. A big Thank You to the consignors who brought these quality horses. This year’s lucky buyer was Kevin Harris. Kevin took home the Corriente trophy saddle (sponsored by John Holt and Terry Larsen, Southwest Risk Management) Kevin’s ticket was drawn at the end of the sale. Kevin had purchased #62 RKR Spacecowboy. Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this year’s performance horse sale a success.
