2026 Sale Recap
Hershberger Performance Horses, Jason and Nikki Hershberger and family, held their 21st Annual Performance Horse Sale, Friday, February 27th at WestWorld of Scottsdale. The sale kicked off the AZ Sun Country Quarter Horse Show, the largest show in the West, along with being held the day prior to the American Rope Horse Futurity, also held at WestWorld. Top horsemen gathered with some of their best to preview both in the Ranch Riding Competition and Heading and Heeling Futurity format. The Ranch Riding Competition was won by Settingthetownonfire, consigned by Bryce Briggs, agent for Shane Turner. This 2018 AQHA/APHA mare had the looks and talent. Our team roping champions from the preview included 5 & under Heading Champion, Bar X Spud, consigned by VonAhn Horses and the 5 & under Heeling Champion belonged to Cowgurls Smokin CD, consigned by Bobby Lewis, agent for Sherry Robbins. The 6 & over Heading Champion was LW MR Eagle 15, consigned by Tuftin McLeod, agent for Carter Armstrong and the 6 & over Heeling Champ was James Henree, consigned by Chance Kelton. Jason is proud of this format, as it gives our buyers plenty of opportunity to see these horses in a competition setting, making plenty of runs. Horses were previewed again on Friday morning. Horses were demonstrated again in the reining, cow work, breakaway, and team roping. Ross Wagner did a great job announcing in both previews. The sale began at 1:00 with Auctioneers, Joel White and Blake Thompson and reading pedigrees was Wyatt Hershberger. We are proud of our professional staff brought in from all parts of the country.
The High Seller was Smart Allic, consigned by Jason Hershberger, agent for JP Quarter Horses. He sold for $60,000 and is making his new home in Montana. Poco Bamacat, consigned by Bodie Sauvage, agent for Tim and Pat Dewey, a 2022 Palomino Gelding sold for $51,000. One Blue Line, a 2016 Red Roan Gelding, sold for $50,000. Rounding out the other top ten horses consigned by Bryce Briggs, Colton Klassen, Estevan Castillo, and Tuftin McLeod. The top ten averaged $49,400 and the overall average was $26,346, with 80% sold. We are excited to see good horses go on with their new owners. Buckles were sponsored by Mountain Country Equipment. We are grateful for their sponsorship and a buyer's buckle and saddle went to Henry Brown. Our Corriente saddle was sponsored by Southwest Risk Management (John Holt and Terry Larsen). New owners also took home a bag of Nutrena SafeChoice feed, sponsored by Nutrena Rep, Anna Nicolazzi. The outstanding Arizona weather, the beautiful climate-controlled arena, shopping and outstanding horses to watch and bid on made this year a success. The Hershberger family would also like to thank all that attended. We are grateful to all of our buyers and the trust they put in the quality brought by our consignors.
